Estelle Corke

I started my illustration career in the world of magazines, advertising and packaging. I used a broad range of techniques and styles, from loose watercolour brushwork to impressionist style oil paintings. This gave me a great grounding for my choice of style I use today as in recent years I find myself working more for children's book publishers.
I love using gouache to create a rich, textured and bright finish to the scenes and characters depicted in the books.
My favourite themes I like to illustrate are stories that have a little quirky humour, especially if they include animals. Girlie pink faries are also secret vice of mine, as they are a complete contrast to the chidrens Bible stories which are my most frequently asked for commissions.
